This year August I celebrated 10 years in Deliverance Church Eastern Bypass . A Decade my peeps. That tells you I can commit…hehe… It wasn’t always like that though.
Lemme break it down quick:
- 2 years of attending first Service only
- 3 years of thinking about being a committed member
- 1 year of online membership ( COVID-19 y’all)
- 6 months of Christian Foundation Class (CFC)
- 6 months of sending myself where there was “VISIBILITY”( you’d think the Foundation Class will get me rooted, I’m a mule sometimes)
Finally 4 years+ of active service and not looking back.
A Decade y’all, well apart from some 6 months that I decided to go help God with some husband deficiency, you know “God helps those who help themselves and other funny stories”. Long story short it bit me painfully. And as you can see, nilitoka nunge, no hubby; still deficient there. However, I was served with more experience of character development 101, I think I have a PhD now.
There’s a term I will teach you today that is used in the world called CLUB HOPPING where people clubbing start from one club and continue to go to other clubs, partying and drinking until it dawns. A group can start in Quiver HQ in Homeland ( please, you have seen the name along Thika Road so stop popping your eyes ati ” how does she know this place) and by the time morning comes they are in Kitengela. They say it’s fun.
Am starting to believe we have CHURCH HOPPERS TOO…
So , Sister Joy. As we come to the end of the year,
- How many Churches have you hopped this year?
- What was your Hopping frequency this year?
- Which church have you stayed in the longest?
What are your hopping triggers? ( heartbreaks?church hurt?hubby rush?)
I have owned my truth, I once hopped because the place I eyed seemed to have more “potentials” to my liking and I knew that one Adam will at least spot me. Shock on me!! God caused them all to SLEEP AND SNORE, no one saw me like that.
Had God not had mercy on me, I would be in Kitengela still on my hopping sprees.
It might look superficial but I know God told me to go back to my “not so visible” church. He told me He would bless me from there. He gave me an assignment,He gave me songs. That experience was so surreal that any time I feel like helping God by positioning myself outside that place, He draws me back.
SO WHY DO PEOPLE CHURCH HOP?
Some people move because of work ( understandable). Others move because of church hurt ( may God heal you).
And then there’s akina Sisi that move because they want to help God. You know sometimes we just want “visibility” that our current position or church doesn’t have.
Visibility is not bad, but I hope you involve God when you make the decision to move.
For your girl here it was “marriage visibility” for others it is ministry, or a job ( because there are churches that have so many CEOs) you know what I am saying. Sort of Isaac wanting to go to Egypt because of Famine in the place he was positioned.
SO SISTER JOY, WHAT FAMINE IS TRYING TO MAKE WANT TO SHIFT TO THAT NEW CHURCH again. What makes you think God doesn’t give visibility. Why are you helping him. How does moving 6 times in a year not alarming to you?? … Wewe utawezana na till death do us part kweli?? On a serious note?
Mimi I moved because a book I read said that sometimes all you need is to be wise and move to the church that has the kind of suitors you would like… Hahaha Hahaha ( He who sits in heaven laughs in Apostle Lawrence Oyor voice) I took it literally.
What I didn’t know was UNLESS THE LORD REVEALS A MAN, THOSE WHO REVEAL THEMSELVES DO IT TO THEIR OWN PERIL.
I thank God I moved because, had I not moved I would never have known;
- The blessing of God in the person of my spiritual authority.
- The benefits of a spiritual cover
- That you get the spirit of the person you sit under
- That some waters we drink from are actually muddy
- That there are slaves and sons in the same household
- That God is the one that gives people husbands/wives and not strategy
- That Unless God reveals you to men, no amount of branding will give you visibility.
- That your blessing/inheritance is with the father God has assigned to you.
- That a slave never gets an inheritance no matter how much the owner of the house loves them
- Some things we call deep are just vocabulary alterations
- Home.
So Sister Joy, Stay. Stay in that church. If the doctrine is sound and there are no scandals, stay. If the Lord has not instructed you to leave, please stay. If work requires you to leave, inform your pastor and let them know you will be fellowshipping elsewhere, using discretion.
If it is Visibility you want, God, in His own time He will reveal you and it will be beautiful.
Yours truly
With Love
Sister Joy
